Saturdays in Mango Country

Walk the orchards.
Eat the fruit off the tree.

Once a month through the Karnataka mango season, we host a Bengaluru-to-Kolar day trip into the orchards we source from — the same trees, the same farmers, the same fruit you order on WhatsApp.

೦೧

The Drive

We meet at 6:30am in central Bengaluru and drive ~80 km to a working orchard in the Kolar – Srinivaspur belt. The road is good. The breakfast stop is better. By 8:30am you are standing in a row of Raspuri trees that have been bearing fruit since before you were born.

೦೨

The Walk

A two-hour walk through the orchard with the farmer. You will see how mango trees are pruned, how the early flowering is protected from rain, what residue-free pest management actually looks like in practice, and which week each variety is at peak. Children love the climbing.

೦೩

The Meal

Lunch is a Karnataka thali in the farmer’s home — ragi mudde, palya, sambar, curd rice, and whatever mango dish is in season that week. Mavinakaayi chitranna in March. Mavina hannina rasayana in May. The fruit on the table was on the tree this morning.

೦೪

The Take-Home

Each guest leaves with a 3 kg box of whatever variety is at peak that day, hand-picked by you, packed at the farm. We are back in Bengaluru by 5:00pm. The mango on your dinner table that night was on a tree at sunrise.
